WHO IS PRISM?

Prism Co. seeks to engage audiences using a variety of mediums in the theatrical exploration of ancient mythology. Our plot development is focused on an ensemble-based creative process.

MOVEMENT THEATRE

Similar to clowning, our stories are told through motion, expression and theatrical illusion to convey a captivating story.

WORDLESS THEATRE

Our goal is to create stories that don’t rely on a traditional spoken language to be fit for a global audience. Art is our language.

ABOUT PRISM CO.

In all of our shows, we incorporate two things: Movement and fun. In each performance so far, we've chosen a specific material to play with, whether it's paint, light, sand, gold, water, paper or anything in between.

Jeff Colangelo and Katy Tye, two rising Dallas Artists founded Prism Co. after working together on a few pop-up shows around town. Jeff, as fight choreographer, and Katy, as an aerial silks specialist found that their theatrical aesthetic was based fully by using movement to express a narrative. After developing several performances containing little to no dialogue, Prism Co Movement Theatre was formed.

We believe in storytelling through choreography, blocking and staged combat. Each motion is a piece of text. As we continue to explore this philosophy we’ve found that an entire epic could be told simply through movement.

This October, PrismCo is GOING FOR GOLD as they take you on a fun, heartwarming tour through the home of Midas. Starved of human contact for nearly 10 years, Midas leads the audience through the main exhibits of his life, members of his family now turned to gold. As Midas past comes to life before him, we see his fun quirky façade crumble to reveal a man who has lost everything he holds dear to greed. Soon we discover this is not a mere walk through a lonely man’s house, but a museum tour through the stages of grief.
